Entry Level Business Development - Sales Job at Ver Tech, Phoenix, AZ

  • Ver Tech
  • Phoenix, AZ

Job Description

If you have ever been told you could “sell ice to a penguin,” we should probably talk. If you’re outgoing, curious, competitive (in a friendly way, of course), and genuinely enjoy meeting new people, you might have what it takes to be our next Business Development Representative. This is an entry-level sales role where you’ll learn the ins and outs of industrial automation, build relationships with customers, uncover new business opportunities, and help connect our customers with solutions they didn’t even know they needed. No decades of sales experience required—we’ll teach you the automation stuff. You just bring the personality, drive, and willingness to learn.

Who We Are

At Vertech, not only do we develop world class industrial automation solutions for some of the top US companies, we also strive to be the team of choice for the best and brightest talent. I mean, we call ourselves control freaks for a reason. The passion (and intelligence) our employees have is truly mind-blowing. In turn, we work hard to take care of our own with excellent benefits and pay, personal development, and transparent communication. We also know that you can be great at what you do and still have fun. If that sounds like a good fit, help us bring the next generation of automation solutions to nearly every industry, including manufacturing, food and beverage, renewable energy, water and wastewater, baggage handling and more.

Top Reasons to Work with Us

  • Flexible work schedule with work from home options for numerous roles

  • Weekly communication from management in our internally famous Friday morning meeting

  • Competitive Compensation including a bonus plan

  • No more than a 4 week waiting period on all benefits including the 401k

  • A really rad Christmas Party each year

  • A manager that is cool…most of the time, because no one is perfect

  • A path for growth, a great culture, PTO, AND MORE!

What You Will Be Doing

  • Learn the world of industrial automation and how Vertech helps customers solve complex technical problems.

  • Build relationships with prospective and existing customers through phone calls, email, networking, events, and in-person meetings.

  • Research industries and companies to identify potential new customers and business opportunities.

  • Generate and qualify new sales leads and help move them through the sales process.

  • Work with experienced Business Development Managers and technical teams to understand customer needs and identify potential solutions.

  • Participate in customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, networking events, and other business development activities.

  • Ask questions, listen to customer challenges, and help connect those challenges to Vertech’s capabilities.

  • Maintain accurate customer and prospect information in our CRM.

  • Follow up with leads and opportunities to keep relationships moving forward.

  • Learn how to develop proposals, presentations, and other sales materials with support from our technical team.

  • Continuously learn about new automation technologies, industries, and applications.

  • Travel occasionally to visit customers, attend industry events, and build relationships.

  • Work toward developing your own territory, customer relationships, and sales pipeline as you grow in the role.

What You Need for this Position

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, marketing, communications, or a related field.

  • Recent college graduate or early-career professional interested in building a career in technical sales and business development.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable meeting new people and building relationships.

  • Sales experience, internship experience, or involvement in sales, business development, networking, or leadership activities is a plus—but not required.
